The Druithaib's Ball - Array Collective

BELUM.U2022.1, Ulster Museum Collection

In December 2021, Array Collective became the first artists from Northern Ireland to win the prestigious Turner Prize. Their winning artwork has been realised twice over. In Belfast, it was a wake for the centenary of Ireland’s partition. For the Turner Prize exhibition, the event was transformed into an immersive installation, where an imagined síbín (a ‘pub without permission’) hosted a film created from the Belfast event. Array invite us into a place of contradictions where trauma, dark humour, frustration, and release coexist, in a gathering place outside sectarian divides.
